Yesterday was the first day of Montreal Fashion Week in Collaboration with P&G Beauty for Fall 2010, held at Marche Bonsecours in Old Montreal. I played beauty spy at a few shows, testing out a new Fujifilm F70 EXR digital camera and checking in behind the scenes to see what Catherine Laniel, Creative Director of Makeup, and Denis Binet, Creative Director of Hair and Consulting Stylist for Pantene, were up to.
Nadya Toto was the first show I hit. The petite designer's fitted dresses embellished with statement ruffles, bows and lace were offset by Rhianna-esque winged smoky eyes, pale lips and pompadour, top-bun hair.
A backstage highlight was running into gregarious, award-winning Quebec television-and-radio host Anne-Marie Withenshaw, who, among other things, blogs for Lou Lou Magazine. Here, just before Helmer, the last show of the day, Anne-Marie's being coiffed and volumized, and volumized some more by stylist Binet. If you check the beauty boards, you'll see she's also wearing the show's defined-eye and bright-lip look.
Stay tuned; there's more to come. And if the Staff whinges at being left to manage BeautyGeeks affairs on her own this week, take no notice. That girl just cannot be grateful for a few days off.
