Staff is making disparaging comments about my choice of images during TIFF. People want to see celebrities, not you and your weird hair, she snarks. But she's missing the point in this photo: here I'm with my kind of celebrity, makeup artist Shawn Hlowatzki, who helps make women look pretty, pretty, pretty. The national trainer for Smashbox Cosmetics, Shawn did some big-name beauty the day I met with him. He won't say who, but I'm pretty sure I know; she looked stellar on the red carpet that evening.

After my morning appointment with Shawn, a sweet chorus of "Oh wow, you have amazing skin!" greeted me at my next appointment. I've mentioned before that I'm a sucker for a pro makeup application, yes? Well, thank you Shawn and thank you Smashbox Camera Ready Full Coverage Foundation. My skin's been petulant these last few months; its look of smooth contentment here is down to great makeup.

Camera Ready Full Coverage Foundation

Lightweight on the skin, Camera Ready Full Coverage ($44 CAN/$38 US) is an oil-free, cream-to-powder foundation with a semi-matte finish. Silica beads (a form of silicone) in the formula gives it good glide, as well as the flexibility to move with the skin without cracking. Other ingredients include Vitamin C and SPF 15 via titanium dioxide (you know that's a mineral sunscreen, right?).

Shawn prepped my oily skin with Photofinish Foundation Primer Light and a touch of Anti-Shine in my t-zone, so Camera Ready stayed put nicely for the entire day with a couple of light touch ups with my blot powder. Frankly, staff can snark all she wants; my hair mighta been not-so-much, but my complexion got compliments. TIFF that.
