My friend Liza suggested one day that I should do something about bridal beauty on BeautyGeeks, seeing as how bridal makeup is one of the things I do. This pretty video album of a couple whose wedding I worked on seems like a good way to start.
I did Audrey's makeup as well as that of her mum and mother-in-law; hairstylist Alexis Jardin did all the hair. (Shout-out to Audrey's bridesmaid Tania, a journalist. First on the left in most bridal-party photos, she did the makeup on her fellow bridesmaids. Great job.)
Audrey is a lovely example of my favourite bridal look: fresh and simple makeup that highlights a person's best features so people see her, not the cosmetics. She also prefers an ultra-natural look, which is easy with her amazing skin, insane long, thick lashes and perfect brows. All she needed was a bit of Smashbox Photofinish Foundation Primer Light to prep, a tiny bit of MAC Select MoistureCover concealer and a light application of MAC Mineralize SkinFinish/Natural powder. Revlon ColorStay Mineral Bronzer in Deep Bronze and Prescriptives In Bloom Cheek Colour Duo 02 played up her getting-married glow.
On Audrey's green eyes, I used Mary Kay Mineral Colour eye shadow in Crystalline, Spun Silk and Iris, plus a wee dab of MAC Pigment in Frozen White at inner corners, and CoverGirl Lashblast Volume Blasting Waterproof Mascara. The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Stain and Audrey's own sheer peachy-pink gloss on her lips finished her look.
Enjoy the video by Dave & Charlotte -- is it wrong that one of my favourite shots is of Audrey's feet in their sweet yellow slingbacks? Love.
