Hey, blue-eyed-blondes! Know what? You're ethnic too. I'm just sayin'.

I was introduced to Vasanti Cosmetics several years ago by one of my bridal clients. Started by three young women with South-Asian backgrounds, the Canadian company is about providing colour cosmetics for folks with yellow-based skin tones, which of course is most of us.

Women of South-Asian and East-Indian heritage in particular find success with Vasanti's range. Face Base Powder Foundation ($25/£17) is a star product, as is their lipstick (the shade Jordan was highlighted in Allure Magazine as the go-to neutral for women with darker skin tones), and range of concealers. In fact, if you have darker skin and have deep under-eye shadows to deal with, take note: Vasanti understands that you need yellow or orange (yup, orange) to help lighten them up without looking chalky. Wonders of the World Concealer ($17/£10) comes in both shades, each paired with a beige tone which serves as eyelid primer or spot concealer.

Available for years in a few Toronto locations as well at, the line is accessible to folks in Canada, the US and the UK. And Canadians, you can now find Vasanti at select Shoppers Drug Marts.
