A Little GaGa: Coccolily Beauty at Montreal Fashion Week F/W 2010

3 March 2010

“The inspiration came from a Lady GaGa picture,” said Catherine Laniel, Creative Director of Makeup for Montreal Fashion Week in Collaboration with P&G Beauty, about last evening’s beauty look for vampy-sweet line Coccolily. “Eyes were very two-tone — white, black, very simple, and very precise.” In fact, that GaGa Flare cover served as reference on [...]

Ice Shine: Marie Saint Pierre Beauty at Montreal Fashion Week F/W 2010

2 March 2010

Last night’s Marie Saint Pierre beauty at Montreal Fashion Week F/W 2010 was about ice and shine. Denis Binet, Creative Director of Hair for Montreal Fashion Week and Consulting Stylist for Pantene, played off the soft-yet-structured lines of the collection (which he called “a step before haute couture”), and drew inspiration from the serpentine coils [...]

Montreal Fashion Week: Beauty at the Fall/Winter 2010 Shows

2 March 2010

Yesterday was the first day of Montreal Fashion Week in Collaboration with P&G Beauty for Fall 2010, held at Marché Bonsecours in Old Montreal. I played beauty spy at a few shows, testing out a new Fujifilm F70 EXR digital camera and checking in behind the scenes to see what Catherine Laniel, Creative Director of [...]

F is for Fin de Semaine de Mode Montréal: ‘Cept for yet More Glamour Beauty Tips — Winged Liner

16 October 2009

Oy. The nerve of those Montreal Fashion Week beauty pros to do so many different looks. And with inexpensive hair and makeup product you can get in the same place you buy… Kleenex. And chocolate. With all the cash you have left over. (You can get a lotta chocolate).

Montreal Fashion Week: Glamour Beauty Tips from the Spring 2010 Show Pros — Two Kinds of Smoky Eyes & Soft Curls

15 October 2009

If you’re just tuning in, wondering what all this fashion-week stuff is, it’s a little series of makeup looks in a setting where flawless beauty is key. And it’s all done using drugstore products, Pantene and almost 100% CoverGirl (the line of course doesn’t include crazy colours necessary for some of the more avant-garde looks).
This [...]

Montreal Fashion Week: Glamour Beauty Tips from the Spring 2010 Show Pros — Red Lips & High Hair

15 October 2009

I’m amused at how far down the tall hairdo you have to go before you get to the model’s face in this photo from the Muse runway show. *grin* Still, it’s an everything-you-need-is-from-your-drugstore look you can learn to do on your own, maybe with a wee height adjustment.

Montreal Fashion Week: Glamour Beauty Tips from the Spring 2010 Show Pros — Glam Eyes & Sleek Hair

14 October 2009

Okay, I’m just going to say it: beauty at Canadian fashion weeks, Montreal and Toronto, is not about setting trends. As much as it might irk rah-rah Canucks, we look to the shows in Paris and NYC for that. For Catherine Laniel, Creative Director of Makeup for Montreal Fashion Week, Canadian backstage beauty is about [...]

Montreal Fashion Week: Beauty at the Spring 2010 Shows

14 October 2009

I’ve left Staff in charge of Toronto happenings for the next few days as I finish assignments and, courtesy of key sponsor P&G Beauty, navigate Montreal Fashion Week at the Marché Bonsecours. At the moment I’m at Le Place d’Armes hotel in Old Montreal — it’s much nicer than my home “office,” certainly!

F is for FREE STUFF: Sign up for Samples

19 January 2009

Okay, I know it’s not “F is for…” Friday, but I like to bug the staff. She can’t stand it when I crinkle the rules just ’cus. Makes her all wiggy. Fun! (F is for fun, too — hee hee.)
The thing about us humanfolk is that what works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for [...]

Ellen's Cover Girl Gig: She's the Face of CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation

10 December 2008

Not one person. No. Body. I didn’t tell a soul. I didn’t even HINT that I’ve known for weeks exactly which CoverGirl product Ellen is representing come January 2009 — a new foundation+skincare baby born of another hook-up between CoverGirl and Olay. Didn’t even tell the staff. She’s pissed. YOU would have been the first [...]

Geeking Out: Ellen is the newest CoverGirl Cover Girl

16 September 2008

You know, the best title for this post is just “Ellen is a Cover Girl.” I know that. But it’s the title of the press release — I couldn’t repeat it. Still, it’s all you need.

F is for Flow: Aquacurrent Science and P&G Beauty

5 September 2008

So it’s not just about locking moisture in at the skin’s surface any more. According to P&G Beauty, it’s about how water flows in and out, and getting the right amount of moisture in the right places.

Lipstick Jungle: Beauty and Candace Bushnell

26 June 2008

I didn’t ask her a single thing about her skincare and makeup regime. Not a thing.
Doesn’t mean I didn’t figure a few things out about Candace Bushnell and beauty, though. Here’s what I learned about the author of Sex & the City and Lipstick Jungle at a P&G Beauty cocktail gathering this week:
