Montreal Fashion Week Spring 2010

The thing about my “if I were skinny” approach to fashion is that I’m not restricted by notions of what might or might not suit my personal style. If I love a sweet, airy, romp-in-fields-of-flowers frock, I can picture my rosy-cheeked skinny self at play in said dress. And right now, I imagine the fiercely confident, hella-fit self who’d rock any of these creations from Denis Gagnon’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection, which had the Montreal Fashion-Week crowd on its feet and cheering at the end of his highly anticipated show. Oy. The nerve of those Montreal Fashion Week beauty pros to do so many different looks. And with inexpensive hair and makeup product you can get in the same place you buy… Kleenex. And chocolate. With all the cash you have left over. (You can get a lotta chocolate). [geek on]

If you’re just tuning in, wondering what all this fashion-week stuff is, it’s a little series of makeup looks in a setting where flawless beauty is key. And it’s all done using drugstore products, Pantene and almost 100% CoverGirl (the line of course doesn’t include crazy colours necessary for some of the more avant-garde looks).

This isn’t about breaking beauty rules, it’s about showing you that you can get the same look using exactly the same stuff, and leave yourself with enough in your wallet to take yourself out to show off your good looks. [geek on]

I’m amused at how far down the tall hairdo you have to go before you get to the model’s face in this photo from the Muse runway show. *grin* Still, it’s an everything-you-need-is-from-your-drugstore look you can learn to do on your own, maybe with a wee height adjustment. [geek on]
