I think I’ve got your perfect post-holiday palette cleansers!

Hi everybody! Lookit! It’s your swatches and review of the Essie Gel Couture Ballet Nudes collection that’s slated for release in January 2017! Yay! New Essie!

I think you’ll find this collection of pretty neutrals to be.. uh, on pointe? Ha! See what I did there? It's a 6-shade collection that embodies “the supple strength of an elegant ballerina... twists... twirls... poised finish..." Or, it’s 6 shades that’ll totally cleanse your palette after all that holiday bling!

Essie Gel Couture Satin Slipper

Essie Gel Couture Satin Slipper (above). We’ll start here with this lovely shade of ivory. This is 3 coats just because she was a little patchy after 2. The brush is the one I like to call the “Yessie” brush because “Yes, Essie – this brush all the time, please.” Application in 3 sounds like a lot, but with this brush, it’s faaaaast. Oh, there’s blue stealth shimmer in here too. So stealthy you can barely see it in the bottle and you can’t see it at all on the nail.

Essie Gel Couture Lace Me Up (above). And here’s a lovely barely-pink-tinted ivory! Again, I had to do 3 coats but you gotta expect 3 with a shade like this. She’s so pretty!

Essie Gel Couture At The Barre

Essie Gel Couture At The Barre (above). I love nutty nudes like these even though they always give me the dreaded Lobsta. Application here was dreamy in 2 and she’s got a really clean kind of warmth to her. I don’t know why I think shades like these always look tidy but they do; they make my hands look nice and tidy and very put-together.

Essie Gel Couture Hold the Position

Essie Gel Couture Hold the Position (above). Wow! Whatta shine! I found this peachy neutral a tad patchy in 2 so did 3, but again, the coats are wicked-fast on account of the genius paddle brush. It’s so clean and bright and happy! Yay!

Essie Closing Night Gel Couture_Essie Gel Couture Ballet Nudes Collection Swatches Review 2017

Essie Gel Couture Closing Night

Essie Gel Couture Closing Night (above). And lastly, this gorgeous medium grey that’s stuffed with blue stealth shimmer that actually shows on the nail. I can’t even. It’s perfect in 2 simple coats. You know you wannit.

So what do I really think about the Essie Gel Couture Ballet Nudes Collection? Well, even though I think colour is meant to be seen and also heard, I’ve sort of fallen for this Essie offering. It’s a beautiful collection of neutrals that are sure to go with pretty much anything you wanna wear when you’re knee-deep in winter sweaters. After all the glittery sparkles of holiday, you can bet I’ll be sporting the peachy love of Hold the Position and the cool grey of Closing Night. I likes. Yep, I do.

Availability: salons & retailers worldwide starting January 2017. My favourite SparkleCanada has them in stock right now ($8.91CAD per) and soon you’ll be able to get ‘em all over the place (probably amazon.com and amazon.ca and ulta.com and tradesercrets.ca). Yay! For more information on all things Essie, head on over to essie.ca.
