Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt Gel-to-Oil Cleanser

I've been messing around with long-wear lip colour lately -- well, it seems timely on account Valentine's Day is coming up. Kiss-resistant lip colour, you know? But man, as much as I love my micellar cleansers, using them to take seriously-stay-put lippies off ain't fun. Too much rub-a-dub work, and my lips are still a bit sensitive from a recent bout of chapped, cracking hell. So yay for Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt Gel-to-Oil Cleanser.

I know I mentioned Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt Gel-to-Oil Cleanser ($34 at sephora.ca and $28 at sephora.com) just couple of posts ago, but it's so effective that it deserves a post of its own. The stuff emulsifies the most stubborn stuff -- waterproof mascara, waterproof eye liner, gazillion-hour lip colour -- very, very well.

The first ingredient is silicone (cyclopentasiloxane, our Liza -- LEEZA -- Herz's favourite silicone for taming frizzy hair). But the formula also contains tamanu oil, mirabelle plum seed oil, abyssincia seed oil and olive oil, all of which help break down the bonds between skin and makeup. Ingredients:

  • Cyclopentasiloxane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Octyldodecanol, Stearyl Heptanoate, Glycerin, Water, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate, Hydrogenated Ethylhexyl Olivate, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Prunus Insititia Seed Oil, Dipropylene Glycol, Calophyllum Tacamahaca Seed Oil, Jojoba Esters, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Silica, Silybum Marianum Ethyl Ester, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Salvia Lavandulaefolia (Sage) Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Hydrogenated Olive Oil Unsaponifiables, Laureth-7, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Benzoic Acid, Sorbic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene, Linalool.

Sure, you could use straight-up olive oil from your kitchen. I didn't bother  -- don't love the scent of olive oil enough to use it on my skin. I do, however, like the gel-to-oil texture of the Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt. You can put a wee dollop on a fingertip without it dripping everywhere. Reminds me of Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel ($36 at thebay.com and $35 at nordstrom.com)

Like the Clarins Pure Melt and other oil cleansers, Bliss Fabulous Makeup Melt rinses off nicely with water to leave skin soft, not stripped. (When I use it on my lips, I wipe it away with a Shiseido Cotton Pad, no sink required, which I love too.)

Could you use a cleanser like this?
