Ooooh! There’s an Essie Cashmere Matte collection coming in the new year! It’s not resort (which generally lands around February) and it’s really very lovely. Did I mention it's matte? Come see!
essie cashmere matte 2015 = soft ‘n pretty
If you’ve been hangin’ out here at BeautyGeeks with me you know I’m on a tear where I just gotta matte all the things. Well, with this stuff, I don’t gotta ’cause it’s built right in. Know what else is built right in? Micro-iridescence. Uh huh.
I’ma start here with this Essie Cashmere Matte creamy white that almost borders on pink. What you see there is three coats. I couldn’t get good coverage in two coats. The stuff is just a little too thick and doesn't level as well as I would like. But it dries quickly, so three coats really isn’t a huge deal. It’s kinda wicked. Really flat but almost glowy and stupendously eye-catching. Also, I wish you could feel it. It’s satiny smooth and feels cool to the touch when it’s dry. It’s neat.
Essie Just Stiched is a smashing baby pink with an awesome blue shimmer that lifts it up and makes it pearly and somehow almost plush. You can barely see that blue shimmer until you get it right up in your face. The overall effect is a warm and cozy pink that’s remarkably soft and beautiful. That right there is two really easy coats. The formula pleases me greatly – matte polishes are generally not easy to work with but this one is 100% stellar.
There’s blue shimmery-ness right there at the top of the bottle – it can only be caught in certain lights with the bottle held at certain angles but it’s there. That blue stuff is what Essie is calling micro-iridescence and really, it is.
She’s so pretty! Pretty pretty pretty in cashmere! I see this picture and I just wanna touch it. The stuff feels so soft and smooth and silky. For real, it does. That right there is two easy coats and ya’ll know matte isn’t easy but this one is. Yep.
Check it out – blue micro shimmer!
There’s the blue! It adds some nice lightness and some pretty awesome depth too. I dig it.
Essie All Eyes on Nudes is a perfect café au lait neutral. It's a creamy beige I found rather thick and difficult to apply. When I polish, I push down towards the cuticle and let gravity pull the polish off the brush and that ends up making that beautifully shaped line right up close to the cuticle. This All Eyes on Nudes isn't thin enough to flow off the brush so it just sat there and I ended up with a cuticle gap that for me, is pretty much unacceptable. I had to use one thin coat followed by two rather thick coats to get that coverage. The stuff also doesn't level particularly well so you can see the slight streaks. Does it matter to me it's imperfect? Kinda. For this shade, I'd much rather have the regular polish and slap Essie's Matte About You over top to get a perfect result. But that might just be me - I'm of the opinion that life is too short to fight with polish.
Two fantastically easy coats. It’s a stunning mauvey-grey. Give it to me.
Gah!! Gimmmie Gimmie Gimmmie!!!! Lookit those puny little blue flecks! Who knew puny flecks could be so incredibly flashy? Essie did. Yep.
Hellz yeah! Blue-black. You wannit. I know you do.
So there you are fellow polish fans! The Essie Cashmere Matte 2015 collection. It’s lovely. It’s all so soft and smooth and satiny and beautiful. Application challenges existed for me only with Wrap Me Up and All Eyes on Nudes but even so, it’s a remarkable departure and a remarkable collection from Essie. It has the perfect feel for January (which is when it actually lands on-counter). You’ll want to wear these with your fuzzy cashmere sweaters and when you do, you won’t be able to stop touching your nails. They'll feel as super-soft as they look.
And how do they actually wear? They wear like matte polishes. They don’t last as long as something you’re gonna slap top-coat over but that’s okay because when you get a chip or a little wear, you can just re-do it and it dries so quickly, you’re good to go in no time at all.
I’ve been a fan of matte for a long time . It’s the only form of nail art I’m good at. When it comes built into the polish, it’s like a special treat. When it comes built into the polish and it looks and feels this great, it’s an even more special treat. The Essie Cashmere Matte collection is beautiful; perfect for the fire-place warmed days of winter when you’re snuggled up on the couch with your super-soft cashmere blankies. I like it. I think it’s a winner. You?

Lastly, I’ve been away for a little while, it’s true. There were some pretty good slices ‘n cuts on my swatch hand so I couldn’t play so much in acetone. I’m all good now and I’m pleased you stuck with me for that couple weeks and came back to see what I’ve been up to. Thanks, ya’ll. Your company here means the world to me and I appreciate you stopping in for a visit. I love you all long time.
