Opening Act: The Benefit Advent Calendar

Surely a Benefit Advent Calendar, stocked with 24 mini makeup treats to uncover one by one from December 1st to 24th, is every makeup fan’s dream.

The Benefit Advent Calendar isn’t the first of its kind — Lancôme does one for Selfridges, and L’Oréal teamed up with a beauty box company to do one last year. And this year’s Ciaté advent calendar of Mini Mani nail polishes is beyond sweet. There haven’t been many overall, though. Given Benefit’s playful personality, a Benefit Advent Calendar should become an annual special edition, don’t you think?

The Benefit Advent Calendar houses travel-size versions (practical and totes adorbs) of Benefit Cosmetics hits including Coralista, Hoola and Dandelion face powders; Benetint, Posietint and Chachatint; HighBeam and SunBeam; The POREfessional; Ultra Plush Lip Gloss; and skincare samples too.

Of course you’ll need to pick up a gift for December 25th, and it’ll have to top this 24-day opening act.

I am so getting this. Daughter gets her chocolate one, Hubby gets a Lego one and I am getting a Make-up one!

Love your thinking, Sara!

Yvonne 23 August 2013 at 7:44 pm

I agree with Sara. This is sooooooo mine this year.

Janine 23 August 2013 at 11:48 pm

Completely understandable. *grin*

Lancôme has done a couple of these, and L’Oréal did one with a beauty-box company last year… but I didn’t see last year’s in time to make a fuss about it :-(

I’m surprised so few brands do beauty advent calendars. Probably a tad pricey to produce, especially if they don’t already produce minis. The concept is so right for Benefit, though, isn’t it?

Wanty want want want. And any minis that you don’t want, you can pass on to friends. Which would be very generous and in the Christmas spirit, right?

So charming and such a great idea to introduce someone to a brand or give someone a gift of a brand they love. Smart, smart Benefit.

O.P.I. should make one – they already make those cute little mini bottles…

Ciaté did one last holiday season! It was pretty solid w/ very few ‘meh’ polishes.

The wee, mini versions of their bottles with the adorable bows were super-cute. Included a couple of colours exclusive to the advent calendar, if I recall correctly.

I know I would be far more excited about a polish-minis (from most any decent brand) advent calendar than I am about this benefit one. I find their products to be more ‘miss’ than ‘hit’.

Yes, I spotted that online! So totally adorable. Was it available in Canada?

Love this idea! What a great way to treat yourself or your friends to fun beauty product samples. This is a great marketing idea as well, as once you fall in love with the products you are more likely to purchase your favorite full-sized product for a Christmas present for yourself or for your friends and family.

Ange 26 August 2013 at 3:00 pm

Excellent idea. Love it. Could be an early Christmas present for a niece or sister (or myself *grin*).

Is this calendar sold in Winnipeg?

Janine 18 November 2014 at 7:39 pm

Should be available at Sephora, Valerie. Maybe call to ensure they have them in stock? I’m checking with the Benefit PR office to confirm, but I can’t see why they’d leave Winnipeg out of all the fun. *grin*

Janine 18 November 2014 at 7:41 pm

Oh wait — I just realized this is the 2013 calendar. So no, you won’t find this one. You’ll find the 2014 Benefit Advent Calendar instead. :-)
