I love a drugstore win. In fact, many of my makeup favourites are inexpensive. (I keep promising to show you... sheesh!) This lip shade, Annabelle TwistUp Retractable Lipstick Crayon in Royale ($9.99, drugstores; annabelle.ca), is one of them.

I tried it and loved it a while back, but misplaced the darned thing before recording it for Lipstick Diary purposes. That pencil is still missing, but to my great delight I found another in my office. Cue happy dance, application, photography, and post.

Part of the Annabelle TwistUp genius is its twist-upness. You don't need an odd-sized sharpener, and you can wind it back down if needed. Also excellent: colour selection (this blue-y fuchsia is such a great colour for every skintone, and makes teeth look whiter as well); texture (smooth, comfortably emollient); and it's a crayon with a not-too-fat point that makes precision application easy even when you've worn down the tip. The formula wears well, too, and it's paraben-free.

Have you tried an Annabelle TwistUp crayon yet? What do you think?
