I have no idea where this Armie-Hammer+Father’s-Day-gifts thing came from. He’s not even a dad (#irrelevant). But since we’re on the subject, let me tip-toe into a tangent: I’m still disappointed there’s only one of this guy.
Fincher and The Social Network did us a disservice by creating a make-believe world in which there are two Armie Hammers.
Suddenly I want a holodeck. “I’m six-foot-five, 220 pounds, and there are two of me” should be true.
Oh, right. Grooming gifts.
Redken for Men Clean Brew Extra Cleansing Shampoo with malt, brewer’s yeast and orange zest ($10, redken.ca for salons). Aside from its manly-fun name, the stuff promises to oust “a hard day of work or play” — *leer* — without upsetting scalp balance. More importantly, it smells sexy, all citrus-spicy clean.
Old Spice Wild Collection Hawkridge Body Wash ($4.99, drugstores; oldspice.com for info). This new line combines sexy-clean modern-man scents with cheeky irreverence to spice up his morning shower. Hawkridge blends smooth tonka with red fruit and chocolate balanced with musk and sandalwood.
Vichy Homme Code Purete Purifying Shaving Foam for Sensitive Skin ($13.50, drugstores; vichy.ca for info). Vichy Homme is one of those solid men’s skincare lines most guys won’t fuss about trying. This Purifying Shaving Foam provides cushion-y glide to minimize the potential for razor nicks, and contains salicylic acid and alum as anti-bacterial and stop-bleeding insurance.
Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Hydrator 24-Hour Moisture Gel Oil-Free Formula for Men ($30, kiehls.ca). Armie strikes me as a Kiehl’s kind of guy. This light, refreshing gel contains a humectant to bind water to skin, and oil-control components to minimize shine.
Dove Men + Care Fortifying Styling Paste ($6.99, drugstores; dove.ca for more info). This creamy-not-sticky formula delivers control and effortless style without feeling heavy and without adding an obvious shine.
Naturally lip balm should be part of this list. I’m obviously going to have to help Armie test these six kiss-friendly balms for men.
Hermès Terre d’Hermès (eau de toilette spray, $110, sephora.ca). I fell in love with Terre d’Hermès when it first launched in 2006. A swoony scent of citrus, spice, flint, cedar and vetiver, it’s ultimate man as far as I’m concerned.
Fan di Fendi pour Homme Acqua (eau de toilette spray, $88, thebay.com). Fresh, breezy and wonderfully invigorating with Italian bergamot, lemon, sage, cardomom and cedar… I’m swooning again. ’Nuff said.
Might just have to see The Lone Ranger twice. *shrug*
Many of these would work as gifts for my dad, too, although he might prefer more moisturizing face and hair care. But talking about Dad in this particular post feels a little weird.
Why don’t we just credit JustJared.com for photos.
