Kissing Up: Wear Red Lipstick Each Day Until Feb 14 to Raise Funds for Canfar

Janine Falcon_Rebecca PerrinOne of the most interesting things I’ve learned about you via our most recent testing program, fellow beautygeeks, is that you aren’t really afraid to wear “stupid bright/cherry red lipstick.” You just wanted your bold colour to respect its boundaries. And now that many of you have discovered clear lipliner via No Bleeding Lips, you’re set to wear your brightest and boldest with confidence. So how about doing it for a cause?Janine Falcon_Karen KwanKisses 4 Canfar wants Canadians to wear red lipstick from now until Valentine’s Day in order to raise awareness and funds for continued HIV and AIDS research. You can donate through your favourite participant profile, collect donations yourself via your own Kisses 4 Canfar profile, and/or help Aldo raise money for Canfar too — for each $30 Aldo gift card you sell to friends, family, Twitter followers etc., Aldo will donate $15 to Canfar.

Here, let these Canadians give you the rundown:

Now here’s how you can participate:

Kisses 4 Canfar how-to

If you decide to create a profile, come back and let us know in the comments below, and when you tweet, cc @Beautygeeks so Staff can retweet to help spread the word. She might even buy an Aldo gift card or 20.

Some of us wear red (or fuschia) lipstick because it’s a day with a name that ends in “y.” Rebecca Perrin, Karen Kwan and Aya McMillan, thanks for the spur-of-the-moment buddy shots!

Do YOU have a profile? I’d rather do a straight donation than buy/sell a gift card…

Hey You,

Even if the head BG doesn’t start a fundraising profile of her own, you can donate without purchasing a gift card at and wear red lips to show your support! I especially like the part where we get to wear red lips for a good cause.

They should do this like Movember. That’s what they should do. Seriously.

Janine 6 February 2013 at 11:44 am

Agreed! I like to think I’d be much better at wearing red lipstick than growing a full moustache…

Cranky B. Pants 6 February 2013 at 1:06 pm

But you’d look so distinguished with a full moustache!

Yahbut she should start a fundraising profile of her own… a group profile – of her + geeky followers. I’d join that Geeky group and, with all the other Geeks, we’d raise a kajillion dollars and help make science. You’d join that group, right Cranky?

Cranky B. Pants 6 February 2013 at 2:46 pm

I do endorse the making of science. Wholeheartedly, in fact.

Jennifer 7 February 2013 at 12:31 pm

That’s the idea! We want to encourage people to don their brightest red lips for a great cause!!

Hi Janine,

It’s fantastic to see you supporting such a great cause! Great post!

You have gorgeous friends, Janine.

And it’s so grey and gloomy, I want to wear a red lip. But there are so many to choose from.

Which are are your favourite reds? The easiest to get started with for a beginner. I get confused when people discuss blue reds and orange reds. I mean, they’re red. Help!

Janine 8 February 2013 at 1:25 pm

Aren’t they pretty? Lovely of you to say, Kelly.

Noted re: your reds question… stay tuned :-)
