Suddenly I’m tempted to try two-tone lip colour. How gorgeous is this shot from the just-out summer issue of The Kit? From fashion editor Vanessa Taylor’s killer sportswear story, “Game On,” this stunning image makes two-tone — two-toned? — lips look insanely… wearable.
The look has popped up on runways and in magazine editorials before — use your google button to find more examples — but something about this application by Rimmel London makeup pro Vanessa Jarman makes me want to wear it myself. Could be because these are two of my favourite lipstick hues, and the finish is a soft sheen rather than high-gloss. Or maybe it’s because I’m wearing an Artistic Colour Gloss two-tone manicure in just these shades?
For the above photo, Vanessa used pink Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick #2 on the upper lip and orange #12 on the lower ($5.99 each via well.ca).
Also gorgeous: this lilac lip (love the brows, too, and oh. those. lashes — *beauty envy*), which is a blend of Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in #4 and Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipstick in WH001, a frosted pearl white ($36, Holt Renfrew).
Is either lip-look something you’d try, too? Because yup, I will.

The two-tone is really gorgeous, I’m just not sure I can do it! Maybe I need to give it a try. I love that pink, either way!
I’m definitely going to try it, maybe this weekend! Gorgeous shades!
I’m with Dot and Lil. The two-tone IS gorgeous, but it makes me a bit nervous to do myself. The pink is a beaut though.
I tried it and it looked cool. But very quickly blended into each other.
I need to try it again in real life. I’ve done it once so far; wearing it around the house is so not the same. I know I pressed my lips together more than usual because I kept worrying about doing it — doh. Maybe I’ll feel more secure if I give the colour a good pencil base.
