This is the first of three sets of fabulous Tips Nail Bar & Spa nails in the Lucian Matis Fall/Winter 2012 show in Toronto last night. Held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, the event was the first of Matis’ two shows this week; his ready-to-wear line, sold on The Shopping Network, hits the runway tonight in the gianormous World Mastercard Fashion Week tent at David Pecaut Square near Roy Thompson Hall.
These are pretty straightforward. Leeanne Colley and the Tips Nail Bar team started with Kiss Active Oval nails ($9.49/100-pk at Rexall).
The base shade is a new neon yellow, Neon Light, coming from Revlon this summer. Paired with white polish on the other end, it’s part of a collection of neon Nail Art duos like their recently released Break-Up collection. (Leeanne is Revlon’s Nail Expert, if you remember.)
For the Lucian Matis FW 2012 show, segments of black lace were glued to the false nails. But you can get the look at home by applying a lace segment when your topcoat is wet. Position it over the fresh nail surface, put it in place carefully, and tap it down gently to secure it.
Or you can get a similar look — although not quite as 3-D — with Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Strips in Laced Up ($9.95, drugstores and mass retailers).
Have you tried a lace-overlay manicure? Would you?
