Emma Stone vs Emma Stone: Which Look Do You Like Better?

by Janine on 31 January 2012 · 8 comments

I think I want to be Emma Stone. Or stalk her — her makeup is a must-see for me at every awards show. I’m a huge dorky fan of Easy A and of her performance in Crazy, Stupid, Love (I’m not at all hideously envious that the script demanded she run her hands down Ryan Gosling’s Photoshopped abs. #bigfatlie). She has that winning combination of quirk and beauty, and she’s not afraid to look less than fabulous on the big screen (I haven’t seen The Help, but she appears to have the worst. hair. ever. in that film).

Now I’m amusing myself by trying to figure out which of these two recent awards-show looks I like better: her smoky-eyed green-steel for the Golden Globes, or her classic glamour from the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Chanel celebrity artist Rachel Goodwin used a combination of Chanel and Revlon for Emma’s Golden Globes makeup. (You know Emma’s a Revlon face, right?) Shades of pewter and gunmetal echoed the metallic embellishments on the star’s Lanvin gown (love the colour of that dress). Details:

On skin
Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer ($16.95 at drugstores)
Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup in Nude ($18.95)
Chanel Powder Blush in Orchid Rose ($48 at Murale, department stores)

On eyes
Chanel Intense Eye Pencil in Noir ($26)
Revlon ColorStay 16H Eyeshadow Quad in Precocious ($12.95)
Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir ($36)

On lips
Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Lollipop ($9.50)

On nails
Try Chanel Nail Colour in Ballerina ($27) for the look

For the SAG Awards, Kara Yoshimoto Bua, another Chanel celeb artist, went for classic glamour:

On skin
Chanel Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Makeup ($55)
Chanel Blush Horizon ($74)
Revlon PhotoReady Finishing Powder in Translucent ($16.95)

On eyes
Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen in Black ($10.95)
Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eyeshadow Quad in Moonlit ($12.95)
Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara ($36)

On lips
Chanel Precision Lip Definer in Framboise ($26)
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Sari D’Eau ($39)

On nails
Try Revlon ColorStay Nail Enamel in Pale Cashmere ($8.95) for the look

Okay, I’ve decided which Emma Stone look I like better. What’s your preference?

Definitely love the SAG awards look more. It is classy, fresh and sophisticated. I feel the dark eyeliner from the Globes is just a bit too harsh. Regardless of the makeup – Emma Stone is always an amazing actress :)

Love her, but but but, black liner all around the waterline? Noooo. I think it’s too harsh. I like the SAG awards bright mouth much better.

She’s so perfect and fresh and funny and I hate black liner. Hate it hate it hate it. Makes her eyes look smaller.

Cameron Diaz does it a lot too, and I won’t even mention Kate Middleton…. Oh wait. I just did.

Size is relative. *grin*

Emma’s eyes are really big; that black liner might make them look “smaller,” but they still don’t look at all small. Just sayin’.

Ok. That’s true. But I still hate it. Must be hard for the makeup artists to create a look that reads to a live audience from a stage and can withstand close-up, high-res red carpet scrutiny.

I like when she does a bright lip better! She can really rock a bright lip!

Easy A was a really fun pix. I stumbled into it on premium TV channel – not sure which one it was – about 2 months ago.

As for which look I like better – I liked the Globes makeup/hair look – but ADORE her dress and shoes for the SAGS (and face it’ that hair and makeup from the Globes would not have worked with the SAG dress.

I loved her smoky eye look too! It’s nice to see Emma looking sultry. She always looks great with that bright lip, mind you. Agreed re: the Globes look with her SAG dress.
