F is for Flawless Fast: Make Your Own Tinted Primer As You Apply It

by Janine on 23 September 2011 · 10 comments

That headline sound a bit weird? The “as you apply it” part? Well, you have to meet The Body Shop international makeup artist Chase Aston to understand. The man, who has worked with Kate Winslet, Naomi Campbell and a host of other famous beauties, is a whiz at speedy makeup application, always looking for a time-saving trick. And this quick complexion-perfection mattifying move meets the criteria.

Here, Chase uses a brush to mix The Body Shop’s new Extra Virgin Minerals loose powder foundation and matte primer practically as he applies it to skin. It even wipes out the need for concealer, says Chase.

Would you try this trick? Have you tried it with any other primer + loose powder? Or would you just buy a tinted primer?

Ok wow that was an awesome trick! Just tried it out using my nars pro-prime with both both my Pur pressed mineral makeup as well as MAC mineralized skinfinish natural (no loose mineral powder on hand). Being a girl who generally hates powder makeup (got the compacts as a gift/sample), this is a great way to even out the skintone without the feel of foundation.

You’re getting good results from brands other than The Body Shop? AMAZING, Vivian! (I’ve been makeup-free all weekend; maybe will try with some stuff tomorrow!)

You’ll need to report back with an update then! Also, have you tried Origins Vitazing, that stuff is my HG on makeup free days.

I use Monistat and mix in a bit of Studio Fix Concealer for a matte base. A touch of mineral foundation and blush for a weightless clean finish that lasts.
