I have genius sturdy brush cylinders for my makeup brushes. They’re Sephora brand, and tall enough for even my powder brushes. But sadly, they were limited edition, discontinued years ago, and I’ve not seen anything comparable since. Not until I spied the brush envelope makeup pro Chantal Hubens of judy inc. uses.
That’s my new obsession, above. A flip-open paint-brush holder from Curry’s Art Store, the cover folds back so the whole thing perches tent-like on the table. It’s been calling to me since Chantal did the makeup for the first cover of The Kit. And it held no less appeal for me on Monday, when we shot our next issue’s cover.
I’ve floated an email to Curry’s to find out if they still carry such a thing; I couldn’t find it on their website (their bamboo brush roll and cup look interesting, though).
I love my can’t-get-’em-anymore brush cylinders, but I think I need this.
UPDATE: Got an email back from Adam at Curry’s within a half hour of my query that yes, this case is still available (product code FC8825, price: $16.49), he thinks. “We have a number of similar looking cases, so you would be best to stop by the Yonge Street location, as it should have the largest selection of brush cases amongst our 3 downtown stores,” he says. As well, bit by bit, Curry’s is working on getting their full product lineup online.
