Surprise: tanning beds, which blast defenseless skin with concentrated ultraviolet radiation, have finally hit the “highest cancer risk” category at The International Agency for Research on Cancer. And, according to the 2007 International Journal of Cancer, which reviewed studies on UVR equipment, tanning bed use before the age of 35 kicks the melanoma risk up by a whopping 75 percent.

“Carcinogenic to humans” indeed.

Thanks for your comment, Laura — and you’re right. More people still need to know. The tanning-salon industry has been feeding their clientele such a bunch of lies for so long, the way cigarette manufacturers told people smoking was good for their health. Maybe one day we’ll see legislation that shuts tanning-bed establishments down for good.

Jannine:
I am now 66 yo, and realizing what all the years of tanning has done to me..I have skin cancer. Luckily. so far all we have to do is remove them surgically.

This what happens when you ‘sun worship’… and i never used a tanning bed, and have not sun-tanned for the last 15 years!

It is very important to see your dr and keep watching those moles, dark and/or scaly spots, and warts..they are ALL cancerous or pre-cancerous..and tanning causes this and makes them worse.

I am looking into something called Perrins Cream..it is supposed to remove all Stage 1 cancers. Please look into this and if it is worthy- maybe you could review for all of us?

Thanx…
