For Mom: Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant and other Mother's Day Beauty Treats

by Janine on 7 May 2009 · 15 comments

DermalogicaDailyMicrofoliantThe staff thinks I’m weird because I think it’s a good idea to give your mom a facial scrub for Mother’s Day.

But it’s not just any facial scrub, it’s gentle-enough-to-use-daily Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, and believe me, it’s a damn good gift if Mom’s already a fan. A lot of people love it. And at $70 CAN, many folks these days can’t squeeze it out of their budget. I know that because this is what I get: “I love Daily Microfoliant, but I just can’t do it right now. Can you suggest anything comparable but at a lower price?”

There are alternatives, but you know what? Daily Microfoliant, a rice enzyme powder, is a great, practical luxurious gift for the woman who loves it, even if you have to go halfsies with a sibling to shell out. Imagine the happy.

More beauty-treat gift ideas here, and then lots more on Lipstick Powder n Paint.

And if the spoilsport staff thinks she’s getting anything from me, hah. She’s not my mother.

I love, love, love the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant! Can’t do without it. But a little goes a long way so the container last quite a long time. Did I say I love this product?!

Janine is so spot on – as always.

I have super, super sensitive skin. Most exfoliants make my face sore and very red. I can use Daily Microfoliant every day and it leaves my skin soft, smooth and definitely brighter!

My friend calls this product ‘skin crack’ – as un-PC as that sounds, it’s so true! I’ve only used it twice and think it is the best thing ever! You really notice a change, even after the first time you use it.

Daily Microfoliant should be on your gift wish list then — people should buy it for you. It’s great stuff. Should be on everyone’s gift wish list. It’s hard to buy it for others when you love it, though. See Rockie’s comment up there, the first one!

I just did a thorough review of Daily Microfoliant and totally agree – what an amazing prezzie! Wish someone would buy it for me — instead it is my little gift to myself… awwwww!

Daily Microfoliant is different from most exfoliants, Tania. It’s a water-activated rice enzyme powder with salicylic acid and papain (a fruit acid enzyme from papaya), and contains other natural-origin brightening ingredients.

All you need is a small amount in wet hands to make a paste which you then massage gently all over your face in circular motions. The exfoliating enzymes plus the manual massage of the paste on your skin smooth away flaky dead cells without feeling abrasive, so it’s good for daily use and for sensitive folks too.

And after you use it for a couple of weeks, you’ll notice your complexion is subtly brighter and your skin has a fresh clarity, even reduced redness. It’s one of Dermalogica’s most beloved skincare products for all those reasons. Also, it has no synthetic colours or fragrances.

Your friend is funny — she’s right! And one of the things that makes it so great is that it’s so gentle yet so effective with just a few uses. Love, love, love — I actually mention Daily Microfoliant in almost any story I do about brightening or exfoliating skin.
