Green Care for Coloured Hair: Live Clean Pink Fire Shampoo and Conditioner

by Janine on 14 July 2008 · 10 comments

Live Clean is a Canadian line of eco-friendly shampoos and conditioners made without sulphates, phosphates, DEA or parabens. Available in formulations to invigorate, moisturize or volumize, the products contain certified-organic botanical extracts and are housed in fully recyclable plastic bottles. (Click here for more info.)

New to the Live Clean family is the Pink Fire duo for colour-treated hair. Already more gentle than many other formulas because there aren’t any sulphates in the mix, Pink Fire contains sunflower extract to protect hair and boost shine.

At $6.99 each, Live Clean shampoo and conditioner don’t cost the earth, in either sense of the word, really. And specifically in relation to Pink Fire, I want to make a crack about fire, hair and Michael Jackson, but I won’t. I will say, though, Live Clean is only available in Canada, eh.

Look for Live Clean in major drugstores and mass retailers.

This is my favorite new shampoo!
Environmentally friendly, Canadian, smells great, lathers very well and comes in a small yet substantial groovy bottle. What more can a girl ask for. You’ll get hooked after one wash.

Thanks for the comment, JG! I do love how the bottle design makes 350 mL look wee next to other bottles that hold the same amount.

Hi Julie, thanks for your comment. It’s a really new line; I’ll check to see whether plans are afoot to distribute world-wide. The company likes that their environmental footprint is relatively light because they distribute here, where the product is manufactured, but business is business. I’ll get back to you!

This is my favorite hair care product by far! I’ve tried so many of the other organic shampoos. They are either too medicinal smelling, don’t clean well enough, or they make my hair feel like straw. Live Clean moisturizes well (even for my color treated hair) and leaves my hair silky soft!

Btw, it’s so ironic to see a comment about a product “only available in Canada”. I am so used to seeing “only available in the USA”.

Tee hee! You’ve reminded me of a tea commercial that used to air here in Canada, for Red Rose Tea bags. The tagline was “Only in Canada, eh? Pity.” I think it fits here! I’ve asked when distribution for Live Clean might expand into the U.S. and beyond. No news yet, but given its success, I can’t believe it won’t happen. As soon as I know anything more, I’ll update everyone.

I’m in love with the volumizing version of this shampoo! My hair is super sensitive and has a tendency to react badly to chemicals. So far no issues here. I like this better than the all sensitive line by Aveda and it’s less than 1/3 the price! I’ll be buying this products for years to come I imagine. Looking forward to body care products!
